Photography Blog Circle {Bokeh}

December 15, 2014

This is the second month of our photography blog circle. The topic this month is bokeh... Those lovely blurry, out-of-focus parts of a picture. I just found out in Japanese it literally means "blur." Makes sense. :) Of course I had to take advantage of my Christmas tree for this one...

I have this picture of my daughter from when she was 6 months old (2 years ago) and I wanted to recreate it...

This is as close as it got! Haha... Photographers' children aren't always the most cooperative models. ;-)

 But I did get this fun shot of her. :)

This mug is actually blue, but I thought green would be more festive!

Now hop on over to Jessie's Blog and follow the links around the circle!
Merry Christmas!

2014 Mini Sessions {Winter Wonderland}

December 1, 2014

Alright friends, I am feeling rather ambitious all of the sudden and decided (very last minute) to offer Christmas minis this year for the kiddos!

I put together this great winter wonderland setup for my own girls' Christmas cards and decided it was too adorable not to share.

Session Times are available from 9am until 12:30pm on December 6th and will take place in my in-home studio setup in Twin Falls. Contact me to reserve your spot. Siblings may be added for an additional $10/child (includes an extra 5x7 print and 3 digital files). Payment (plus tax) is due at the time of session. Powdered snow will be provided (which was what made this my girls’ favorite session to date!) ;-)

Discs will be ready for pick-up by December 16th so that you have time to print & send cards or gifts. Christmas card designs as well as cards and envelopes will be available for an additional fee and may be ordered during your session.

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas this year!

Photography Blog Circle {Night Photography}

November 15, 2014

I have started participating in a monthly photography blog circle, where we have a new topic each month and share posts with each other. I'm hoping this will help me creatively branch out from what I normally always do (portraiture) and have some fun in the meantime!

This month's genre was night photography. I took this loosely to mean anything with low-light conditions. ;-)

First up is from an engagement shoot a couple weeks ago. Emma wanted downtown at night and I was excited because it worked with the theme perfectly! Sometimes I love the control of some good off-camera flash. :)

I realize that I took this image well over a month ago, but alas, I wasn't able to recreate any fire images like this one from the Magic Valley Camera Club workshop with Travis Gadsby. But the pyro in me is dying to play with fire again!

This was handheld from a CSI Game. I kind of feel like we're going warp speed.

And lastly, I played with some light painting. I started with some simple words/phrases...

...And then decided this was too appropriate to not give it an attempt or two!... Or eleven, but who's counting?

Now head on over to my friend Jessie's blog to see her night photography post,
then follow the links around the circle!

Mine {Two & Four}

September 26, 2014

For the girls' birthdays this year I wanted to make a ribbon backdrop and keep to spring pastels since their birthdays are in April. I don't usually like to match their outfits too much but I absolutely LOVED the vintage feel to these dresses.

This may have been one of my favorite sessions to date. Enjoy!
